What an amazing trip we had to Kansas City! We went so many places, ate so well and had a total blast!

Here are our top restaurants, attractions and places to stay the traveling to Kansas City especially as a family!

                                What To Do:

                              LEGOLAND Discovery Center- KC

Join us at Legoland Discovery Center  for a day of adventure and imagination! Hop aboard your chariot on the Kingdom Quest ride to rescue the captured Princess! Watch out for beastly trolls and sneaky skeletons lurking around every corner.  Can you zap them all to save the day? 

Pedal the enchanted cart in Merlin’s magical potions chamber and become his next wizarding apprentice. How high can you go?! 

Plus, explore the City of Fountains with their miniature LEGO® replica of the city’s favorite landmarks, built from over 1.5 million LEGO® bricks!  Spot the mischievous Minifigures hiding in MINILAND and meet your favorite LEGO characters. 

Build a super speedy vehicle and race it against your friends at the Build & Test zone! 🏁 Ready. Set. GO! 

 And for the little ones, unleash creativity in the animal-themed DUPLO® Farm!

                          SEALIFE Kansas City

What an incredible  Sealife Kansas City , and I can’t wait to share all the magical moments! As part of the world’s largest family of aquariums, SEA LIFE brings the wonders of the ocean to life. My boys were absolutely captivated by the enchanting marine creatures on display, and we loved every second of our adventure! 🦈🦑

From the graceful glide of the stingrays to the awe-inspiring presence of the majestic sharks, the aquarium offered us a glimpse into an underwater paradise. We even spotted some adorable sea turtles that left my boys in awe! 🐢💙 The immersive experiences and interactive exhibits made it fun and educational for the whole family. Watching their little faces light up as they learned more about these ocean-dwellers was priceless!

Kansas City is so full of family-friendly activities, and SEA LIFE is definitely a must-visit when you’re in the area. It’s incredible to think that this adventure is part of a larger mission that started way back in 1979 in Oban, Scotland, and now stretches across nearly 50 locations worldwide. 🌍✨

                                UNION STATION:

We explored so many amazing places in Kansas City’s Union Station ! Watch all of our fun HERE on Instagram!

 Step into a world of magic at the Disney 100 Exhibit 100 Exhibit ! The Walt Disney Archives has opened its vault to showcase over 250 extraordinary artifacts, ranging from iconic costumes to classic memorabilia. 🏰✨ Ten themed galleries transport you through Disney history, from the beloved Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to Encanto, and featuring favorites from Pixar, Star Wars, and MARVEL! 🌟

We loved all of the magic.  Seeing all the princess artifacts as well as Star Wars and Marvel costumes was amazing!  A perfect experience for families and Disney lovers alike. Don’t miss out on this enchanting celebration at Kansas City’s Union Station!

We stopped at Harvey’s at Union Station  for an INCREDIBLE brunch! (See more in “Where to Eat”!)

And lastly, we headed to Science City!  Throw away the “don’t touch” mindset and dive into a world of exploration at Science City! With nearly 100,000 sq ft of indoor and outdoor experiences and over 300 interactive exhibits, every corner is a new adventure waiting to be discovered. ✨

Their dedicated area for little explorers, infants to 6-year-olds, sparks early childhood development in a fun, engaging way. 💡

We loved watching Jaden ride across a tightrope on the sky bike and Parker James loved the zipline! Both boys would have climbed in the indoor play structure all day!

Located in the stunning Union Station, each visit promises unforgettable memories under the grand clock and throughout the unique cityscape of Science City. Come unleash your imagination and see what wonders await!

                                  Jack Stack BBQ

Get ready for a taste adventure like no other at Jack Stack BBQ! With over 11 hickory-smoked meats to choose from, Jack Stack BBQ has the most extensive barbecue menu in Kansas City! Our meals were SO delicious! Parker James was getting hangry before the meal and they made him the CUTEST toddler charcuterie board to snack on and they even had gluten free buns for Jaden to help with his food allergies!

From tender beef burnt ends to fall-off-the-bone lamb ribs, there’s something for every palate. And did you know that Jack Stack has been serving up delicious ‘cue since 1957? The Fiorella family’s passion for BBQ has only grown stronger over the years, with the addition of Certified Angus Beef steaks, fresh seafood, and mouthwatering sides like Hickory Pit Beans and Cheesy Corn Bake. Whether you’re a local or just visiting KC, be sure to stop by one of their six area restaurants or take advantage of their nationwide shipping service.


                                  Arthur Bryant’s

Arthur Bryant’s Home of the original burnt ends! And my Ted Lasso fans know they have SUCH great BBQ, sauces and amazing sides! We loved the history and seeing all the celebrities and presidents that have visited Arthur Bryant’s! If you’re in KC you have to head to Arthur Bryant’s! 

 

                                     

                                        El Pico 

El Pico in downtown Independence, MO. The most incredible authentic Mexican food. Their drinks were delicious and their entrees were amazing! We loved every bite of our meals. The charm of the small town of Independence, MO was so inviting and perfect for a family meal. Independence is a MUST on places to stop in KC! 

 

           

                             BRGR + Kitchen & Bar

BRGR + Kitchen & Bar has SO many great meal choices and unique flavors. I was in LOVE with their truffle, Parmesan fries and their pickle fries were out of this world! They had great sauces, sides and their burgers and salads were delicious! BRGR KITCHEN + BAR offers a modern twist on the iconic American burger experience in Kansas City, combining quality ingredients with a sophisticated atmosphere. The restaurant emphasizes a value-oriented menu appealing to discerning food lovers, featuring hand-selected beers, wines, and craft cocktails. Guests can expect exceptional service and a culinary journey that honors classic American flavors.

                                  Cafe Verona

Cafe Verona authentic Italian restaurant in downtown Independence, MO was so charming and had the most incredible decor! Their appetizers, salads, pasta dishes and desserts were phenomenal. We especially loved their authentic Italian olive oil citrus cake. Never had anything like it! So amazing! 

                         Harvey’s in Union Station

Located in Kansas City’s Union Station, Harvey’s New York style bistro restaurant serves- a full brunch buffet on Sundays and we were lucky to catch it! From breakfast meats, potatoes, casseroles and waffles to pastas, fried chicken, roasted veggies and all the sides you could think of, Harvey’s had it all! And don’t get me started on the desserts! They were out of this world! Harvey’s is a must if you’re in the KC area! 

 

                             Caldwell’s Burgers

Located in River Bluff Brewing, Caldwell’s Burgers serves up juicy gourmet burgers, fries and the best onion rings around! They also serve their sister brand’s @solas.h2o and @guyssnacks potato chips which we LOVED! 


                         

 

 

                                      Filling Station Coffee

On our way out of town we stopped at Filling Station Coffee for a caffeine pick me up and some delicious snacks! Their pastries and breakfast items were incredible and their lattes and cold brews we tried hit the spot!

We’re so grateful for the amazing stay at Drury Inn & Suites in Independence, MO! Our cozy suite was the perfect haven after a long day of exploring. Our family loved the fun-filled pool and hot tub, where we spent hours making memories together.

And let’s not forget the delicious free happy hour appetizers – a game-changer for parents! And to top it all off, every morning started off right with a scrumptious free breakfast buffet, complete with made your own Drury waffles of course and all the fixin’s. If you’re looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay with your loved ones, look no further than Drury Hotels!
